Anheuser Busch Tour

Hello hello!

So a very cold cold day of early January we decided to take my sister who was visiting to the Anheuser-Busch Brewery here in St. Louis. They are famous for producing Budweiser beer. They are the base for the 12 breweries they operate all over the US.

Here are some little facts about them:

• They named their beer Budweiser so it would have a German ring to it, but it was easy to pronounce in English.
• During the prohibition they didn't sell alcohol but sold every ingredient to "do it yourself", hmmm... suspicious?
• The original owner used to own a soap factory.
• Adolphus Busch was the first American brewer to use pasteurization to keep beer fresh (even before milk!), the first to use mechanical refrigeration and refrigerated railroad cars and the first to bottle beer extensively.
• The St. Louis Cardinals major league baseball club was owned by Anheuser-Busch from February 20, 1953 to March 21, 1996.

They share their history and facilities with all their visitors, the tour is free and if you are lucky or crazy like us and go in the middle of the winter the groups are small and you get almost a private tour!

We got to taste two beers at the end of the tour, I chose Budweiser, you can't go wrong with a classic, and their Shock Top Honey Crips AppleWheat, too fruity for me! but if you are gonna try, might as well try something new!

If you ask me, nothing compares to Mexican beer (I'm so biased! lol) still I had a great time, delicious beer and got to take some amazing pictures of the brewery all snowed! It was worth the drive and the cold!

Their shop has all kinds of cool things, like special glasses, craft beers, you can make your own six pack of their products, and they have all sorts of cool beer oriented products. I'm definitely going back! If you ever get a chance to visit a brewery, do it! 

Cermexza are now all over Mexico with a great project, giving Mexican craft beers a chance to showcase their work, with all this "beer boom" we are living nowadays it is definitely worth following their site and getting to know all the talented brewmasters that are starting just like Anheuser Busch did back in 1852.

My favorite Mexican beer? I love the Minerva brand, they are from Guadalajara, Jalisco and they are a rather young company, I specially like their Malverde beer :) if I'm looking for something simple I'll buy Dos Equis. And for my favorite international beer, Carlsberg is my beer of choice! I'm starting to think I'm attracted to green packaging... :/ lol And from Anheuser-Busch? Stella Artois, elegant, light and simple.

Un día muy frío a principios de Enero decidimos llevar a mi hermana que estaba de visita a la Cervecería Anheuser-Busch. Son famosos por producir la cerveza Budweiser y son la base de las 12 plantas que tienen alrededor de todo Estados Unidos.

Aquí algunos datos curiosos sobre ellos:

• Su cerveza mas popular, Budweiser, es llamada así para tener un "tono" alemán, pero es una palabra fácil de pronunciar en inglés.
• Durante la prohibición no vendieron alcohol, pero si todos los ingredientes para hacer cerveza, mmm, sospechoso?
• El dueño original tenía una fabrica de jabones también.
• Adolphus Busch fue el primer cervecero en pasteurizar la cerveza para mantener su frescura (incluso antes que la leche!), el primero en usar refrigeración mecánica, el primero en usar vagones refrigerados en los trenes y el primero en embotellar cerveza de manera masiva.
• El equipo profesional de béisbol Los Cardinales de St. Louis fue propiedad de Anheuser-Busch de Febrero 20, de 1953 hasta Marzo 21, de 1996.

Cualquier visitante puede dar un tour de su planta, es gratis y si estas loco como nosotros y vas en la mitad del invierno no hay gente y el tour es prácticamente personalizado.

Al final tuvimos la oportunidad de probar 2 cervezas, escogí Budweiser, porque no te puedes equivocar con un clásico, y tambien tomé su cerveza Shock Top de Manzana y Trigo, muy afrutada para mi! Pero si vas a probar algo, que mejor que algo nuevo!

Si me preguntan, nada se compara con la cerveza mexicana (claro que mi opinión es muy parcial, jaja) de cualquier manera, me divertí mucho, probé cerveza deliciosa y tomé fotos increíbles de la planta nevada, valió la pena el frío.

Su tienda tiene toda cantidad de cosas, vasos especiales, cervezas artesanales, puedes hacer tu propio six pack de sus productos, y miles más de productos cerveceros. Definitivamente regresaré. Si alguna vez tienen la oportunidad de visitar una cervecería, no lo dejen pasar.

Cermexza están visitando todo México con un super proyecto, dando un escaparate a las cervezas artesanales y el trabajo detrás de su producción, con todo este "boom cervecero" que vivimos hoy en día vale la pena seguir su sitio y conocer a todos los talentosos maestros cerveceros que empiezan como Anheuser-Busch empezó en 1852.

Mi cerveza Mexicana favorita? Me encantan las cervezas de Cervecería Minerva, son de Guadalajara, Jalisco y son una empresa relativamente joven, especialmente me gusta su cerveza Malverde :) Si estoy buscando algo sencillo compro Dos Equis. Y mi favorita internacional, definitivo Calsberg. Estoy empezando a pensar que lo que me gusta es el verde. :/ jaja y de Anheuser-Bush? Stella Artois! Elegante, ligera y sencilla.
